RWO Blocks

RWO offer a wide range of models and sizes to suit (ropes from 3-16 mm) (wire from 2-6 mm) with or without ball bearings. The Macro range all BLACK and the plain bearing NOVA range two tone grey. Both block ranges are moulded in tough UV stabilised acetal resin.

For your block selection please see specific information on each page. Look for:- 1. LINE SIZE, 2. WORKLOAD, 3. BEARING FRICTION.

Sheaves moulded in acetal resin are available either with solid or ball bearings. The twin rows of bearings delrin or stainless steel will run freely up to the recommended working loads. The solid bearing versions are virtually maintenance free and always reliable even under static loads.

The quoted WL (Workload) is 50% of the BL (Breakload), and should never be exceeded in use. The BL is the load that the block fails in a major way. The WL is the maximum load the block takes whilst still operational - there are no components permanently deformed. Both loads are tested with 180¤ wrap of maximum rope size.

The bearing friction element is particularly in evidence in the extreme usage in multi-purchase tackles therefore use low friction ball bearing (where you can save up to 40% on normal bearings) and for static loads a plain bearing/acetal bushed block would be appropriate. Remember the bigger angle the rope changes in direction, the greater the forces on the block.

Attachment points are important both for convenience of use and practical function - always attempt to only use a swivel on the final rope lead. The fixed blocks should align and have sufficient movement, bisect the angles of the two lines in all situations.
